Buddhism

"Just as the mighty ocean has but one taste, the taste of salt, so too my teaching has but one taste, the taste of freedom."

Buddhism has developed effective methods for working on and transforming our lives for the better. It opens up a path of personal growth and spiritual development leading to greater awareness, integration and compassion. Our Buddhist teachings are open to all and you are free to explore them at your own pace.

Meditation Days & Workshops

During 2008 we are offering a series of day and weekend events to explore the underlying principles of our System of Meditation. Regular attendance will give a comprehensive overview and deeper understanding of the meditation practices we teach and how they inform each other and work together.

The events all work on a stand alone basis: do come along even if you’re only able to get to one or two of them.

Some of these events are by donation. We wish our events to be affordable for all those who want to attend.
(We suggest £25/15 per Day). Do feel free to give as much or as little as you can afford.

Opening to Awareness with Tejananda.

Awareness is something that we usually take for granted - we're much more interested in what comes up in awareness than in awareness itself. But if we can turn the spotlight of awareness round, to illuminate itself, all sorts of fascinating and unexpected perspectives arise. On this weekend we'll be opening up to the wonderful 'hidden jewel' of awareness through mindfulness of the body, meditation and reflection. Opening up to awareness is opening up to the Dharma itself.
Who is Tejananda?

10 - 11 May £30/20 per day. £50/35 for the weekend.

Images of Awakening with Manjuka
Two meditation workshops using an imaginative approach to explore the guiding metaphors in Sangharakshita's 'System of Meditation'. 'Growth' following the Path, 'being' and 'Buddhanature','spiritual death and rebirth': understanding the metaphorical nature of how we talk about meditation allows for a creative 'way in' which avoids the traps of literalism and complacency.Who is Manjuka?

The Edge of Certainty with Vasumitra

Puja as a practice gives us an opportunity to make an emotional connection with our ideals through the use of ritual. The aim is to awaken the imaginative faculty bridging the gap between our intellectual understanding and our emotional response to Buddhist practice.

Friday Practice evenings are a weekly event. The full moon is seen as a particularly good time to practise together; if you can't make it any other time mark these dates in your diary. For theme and further information Click Here

All are welcome to these events. Please feel free to ask before-hand for information about puja as a practice.
