Osteopathy with Sue Step An osteopathic treatment involves my working directly with my hands on your body, to help ease pain, improve circulation, detoxify, mobilise stiff joints and release tensions. Osteopathy can be a very gentle, safe and effective way of relieving specific aches and pains, as well as contributing to your overall emotional and psychological well being. It works with your natural healing process, helping your body restore, enhance and maintain health and balance A session, which normally lasts around an hour, may typically include gentle rocking movements of your neck, spine, arms and legs to help your body relax and release restricted joints and tight muscles. Other ways of working include muscle energy, craniosacral, and gentle holding approaches, letting your body unwind at it’s own pace. I work sensitively using various approaches, depending on what you need. Some of the areas I treat which osteopathy can help include: * sciatica & back pain * hip, knee, leg & foot pain * shoulder, elbow & hand problems * carpal tunnel syndrome * arthritic pain * minor sports injuries & muscle spasm * rehabilitation after musculo-skeletal injury * rehabilitation after stroke * and other conditions. Many people use osteopathy for general relaxation and to help keep in good health. Advice re your seating at home and at work: I offer ergonomic advice regarding seating and workstation arrangement to help reduce some of the causes of pain. Osteopathy can help you to prevent problems in the future by identifying any stress patterns, postural habits, and poor body usage which could otherwise contribute to aches and pains. About myself After practising as a soft tissue therapist several years ago I went on to deepen my knowledge, graduating in osteopathy in 1998. My osteopathic work is informed by a longstanding personal background in meditation and healing. I engage in ongoing reflective practice and undertake continued professional development, to help ensure that clients receive the best standards of care.
