CANCELLED: Daoist Yoga: Alchemy of Baguazhang - Sun 24 June

This workshop will cover preparatory sequences and circle-walking. The Daoist practice of Ba Gua is a physical manifestation of the ideas of the Trigrams (representations of the eight basic forces of the universe) that combine to make up the sixty-four hexagrams of the I Ching, the ancient Chinese oracle text.

The workshop will cover Alchemical sequences designed to improve the strength and structure of the body. We will do this through study of movement and stillness based around the central 'axis' of the body, the pole that connects Heaven (yang) and Earth (yin) through us. In this way we use the practice to balance the energies and forces within us by deepening the connection of mind and body. In circle-walking, the more dynamic aspect of the practice, our movements create a spiral-type vortex with powerfully transformative effects.

Tea will be provided.

Body, Breath, Heart - a Meditation Day for Regulars (Sun 1 July 2018)

We warmly invite you to a day of collective meditation practice. The day will be in silence and we will explore the breath and the heart in a gentle, natural and rooted way.

Sitting practice will be interspersed with mindful movement, walking, lying down, poetry and chanting.

The day is suitable for anybody who is familiar with both meditation practices, the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Metta Bhavana.

Deep Rest

A unique and deeply relaxing blend of simple practices to rest, restore and nourish.

Including gentle floor-based exercises to help release muscular tension (Hanna Somatics) as well as Pranayama (breath focus) and quiet time for meditation, these workshops will focus primarily on supported, restorative yoga poses using bolsters and other props.

This way of working is designed to calm the nervous system, boost the immune system and promote balance for busy lives.

Meditation Day: Just Sitting
