Join us for a special Sangha Soirée as part of our urban retreat—an evening dedicated to community, culture, and sharing the teachings of the Buddha across the world.
We'll begin by sharing a simple but tasty meal together. After we eat, we'll meditate as a group at 7:15 p.m. before moving into a vibrant musical soirée featuring a mix of music from: Ratnaprabha (English folk song) and Maitrishura & Chintamani (Irish accordion & Guitar) and more names to be announced soon!
Our founder, Urgyen Sangharakshita, envisioned Buddhist centers as more than just places for meditation and study. He saw them as social hubs for friendship and culture, and this evening is a celebration of that vision.
This event will also act as a fundraiser for Future Dharma. In recent years, they have funded a wide range of projects, including:
- A rewriting of the popular four-year Mitra study course.
- The teams behind translations of Dharma texts into various languages (including Albanian, Polish, Romanian, Estonian, Japanese).
- New Buddhist situations around the world (in Warsaw, Venezuela, Tokyo, and Mexico and Scarborough!).
- The invaluable online bank of Dharma talks, Free Buddhist Audio.
- The men's and women's ordination teams in India.
Come along to share a warm meal, meditate, meet others and enjoy beautiful music, all for a great cause.
