Concessions & Booking Policy

We offer a Concessionary rate for some of our activities, to people in the following categories:

  • those in receipt of a universal benefit (such as Universal Credit, Disability Living Allowance or PIP),

  • those whose sole income is a State Pension,

  • full-time students.

  • NEW: concession for young people (18-25) for drop-in classes and Buddhism courses

Our mission is to enable as many people as possible to have access to teaching on meditation, Buddhism, mindfulness, yoga and related activities. We therefore aim to make our classes as affordable as we can. However, we are a small independent charity so we also need to generate enough income that we can continue to offer classes and events.

Our payment and concessions policy is therefore to ask people to pay the full price for our activities if they are possibly able to do so. This has become even more important in these challenging financial times of Covid-19 because the Centre’s income has dropped hugely. If you are able to pay the full cost this then helps us be able to offer concession prices to those who cannot otherwise afford to attend, so it is part of the fundamental Buddhist principle of generosity.

Our Concessionary rate is based on a policy of trusting people, so we choose to trust that people will only claim the concession price if they are genuinely eligible for that and are living on a low income.

If you do not fit the categories for a concession but you are still finding it very hard to afford to attend our classes, please do contact the Centre Team to discuss if there is a way we can help you to attend.
