This three evening course led by Vajradaka is in workshop style.
Workshop style brings together personal understanding of the principles and skills of meditation combined with a personal and direct experience and development of them.
The essential principles we will include during the whole course are:
The relationship between receptivity and activity and how you apply them in your meditation.
This principle will be explored in different ways so that it is embedded into your meditation practice in an effective way.
How to combine an awareness of how you are in the moment with your intentions for meditation.
This includes developing the ability to clearly recognize your mental states and qualities so the correct response to them can be chosen.
The relationship between intentionality and spontaneity in mindfulness and awareness.
Intentionality is a foundation of both mindfulness and meditation and there are learnable skills in forming them, We also need to be able to respond to the changes which take place. Through the course we hone these skills
Integrating clear directed thinking with the imaginal faculty which includes how to use descriptive words and clear directives together with imagery and intuition.
These plus other principles will run through the entire course. We will also explore the skills of how you engage your vision and motivation to practice. The emphasis of workshop style is engaging with conscious learning from both understanding and direct experience
There will be an emphasis on developing all of the the primary skills of meditation which will include:
The three C's Checking, Clearing and Coming back to your intention.
We will explore the skill of adjusting effort so it is tuned to what you need to do in the moment rather than being too forced or too lax.
Being aware of habits which don't help you in your meditation and gaining a fresh approach.
