Sangha Gathering: Developing Actions for Creating a More Diverse and Inclusive Centre

Sangha Gathering: Developing Actions for Creating a More Diverse and Inclusive Centre

June 4th, 2-6pm at the NLBC

12:45 pm to 2pm Sangha 'bring and share' vegetarian/vegan lunch

2 - 6 pm Sangha Gathering for Creating a more Diverse and Inclusive centre

The NLBC warmly invites you to join us for the last of a series of gatherings held over the past year to move forward our Racial Diversity and Inclusion Initiative. This gathering is an opportunity to reflect on our vision for greater inclusion and diversity at the NLBC and develop strategies to help move us toward that vision. This vision includes:

  • Outreach and engagement that is outward looking, kind, and curious, provides clear ways to get involved, and encourages and supports spiritual friendship

  • A welcoming, inclusive, and accessible space and community

  • Diverse materials, programming, and perspectives in teaching relevant to the lives of people of colour

  • Clear and transparent processes for people of color to access materials and opportunities like volunteering and teaching

  • Intro courses and regular events specifically for people of colour

  • Racial diversity and inclusion training for all who lead, teach, work, volunteer and participate at the centre

  • Strong and effective connections with other RDI initiatives and resources in and beyond Triratna

  • Annual and ongoing mechanisms of gathering feedback from the sangha to measure our progress

The afternoon will include time to connect with one another around our motivation for this work, look back at the vision we created last year, explore what might be currently getting in the way of achieving the vision, and develop actions to move us forward.

All are welcome! Everyone’s contributions are invaluable to this process, no matter how much or in what way’s you are currently involved at the NLBC.
